Playworkers Looking for Work
BAND holds a list of Playworkers looking for work. If you would like to receive a copy of this, or add your name to the list, please contact the office. BAND strongly recommends that all staff should be interviewed and at least two written references taken up, one of which should be from their most recent employer. Evidence of qualifications and proof of identity should also be provided with enhanced CRB disclosures undertaken before they are appointed. Registered childcare settings must run checks on all staff through Ofsted (Helpline: 0845 601 4771).
Current Vacancies
Bristol University Day Nursery requires a full-time qualified Nursery Practitioner.
Salary: £14,302. The nursery caters for 64 children between three months and five years old.
You will:
- Provide the children with a safe, secure and home like environment
- Have a working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage
- Operate a key person system and liaise with parents, carers, and senior staff
- Plan, organise and implement a programme of activities to meet the needs of this age group and each individual child's needs and interests
- Work as part of a highly motivated and professional team.
- Hold a Level 3 qualification
- Be flexible and creative and have the commitment to provide first class childcare
- Have the ability to promote good practice in a professional manner
- Have good organisational skills.
Schools Engagement Co-ordinator for St Pauls Carnival:
The role will include;
- Liaising with schools to establish their needs and negotiate involvement in Carnival workshops, procession and performances.
- Organising and planning activities with the school staff and artists
- Ensuring that the activities delivered are suitable for the age group and fit in with the school's curriculum.
- Source and engage the services of suitable artists for work in schools
- Ensure that budgets are kept to and contracts are prepared.
- Create literature to give schools ideas for costume interpretation
- Monitor artists' work with schools and that both sides are satisfied with arrangements
- Liaise with schools to establish arrangements for Carnival Day participation
- Seek written feedback from the participating schools and artists
- Produce a final evaluation report
Easton families project (Tiny Happy People Nursery) are looking to appoint a Deputy Nursery Manager. EYPS or Foundation degree in Early Years essential. 9am - 3.30pm weekdays, term time only. £15,570 - £18, 937 pro rata depending on qualifications and experience. The Southville Centre Nursery require two Early Years Practitioners to join their well established and friendly setting. Hours: Post 1: 40 per week (Mon-Fri). Post 2: 24 per week (Wed-Fri). Avon Loud Mouth Project is looking for a new playworker. Thursday afternoon, 4pm - 6.45pm. Can you have fun cooking, help with facepainting or join in games with kids? We work with around 25 children per session, aged 5 - 12 years. We are child-centred and provide a range of play opportunities and activities in our large indoor and outdoor space, e.g. football, art, and cooking. St. Bonaventure's Primary School requires School Meals Supervisory Assistants (SMSAs) as soon as possible. Grade BG2 £6.38 per hour, Term Time Only.

Henry's After-School Playscheme are looking for Supply Playworkers. The playworker is a member of the team providing direct care and supervision to the children attending the club. They share the responsibilities of H and S, child protection etc reporting to the playleader or deputy playleader. The majority of the time the playworkers role is one of direct child care and play either in formal group activities which they may lead or in the more informal child led play activities. Our staff work from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm and some currently work 5 days a week although most of them are not available all days of the week. Formal qualifications or the willingness to work towards them are required for playworkers. All of our staff work within a small team and need to be co-operative and communicative within that environment. The above roles are to cover holidays, sickness and other absences on an "as and when" basis. Hourly rates will depend on level of qualification. Cedarpark Playscheme Limited require a Play Worker. We offer a safe and fun environment for children of Stoke Bishop CEVC. Primary school to play and socialise out of school hours. To support this service we are looking for an enthusiastic and qualified Play worker to join our team of part time staff. The team is lead by a Play Leader and helped to manage by a committee of parents.
- Hours of work: Wednesdays - 3.15pm till 6.00pm and Fridays 3.30pm till 5.00pm term time.
- Rate of pay: £8.50 per hour.
- A relevant level 2 play work or childcare qualification is required.
- Paediatric first aid qualification desirable, but training will be provided if necessary.
- Successful applicants will be required to have an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau disclosure.

Bristol Dial-A-Ride operate a door-to-door accessible minibus service for disabled people and have the following volunteer roles available:-
VOLUNTEER DRIVERS
- To drive a fully accessible minibus or multi purpose vehicle for our evening and weekend day trip and group hire bookings.
- Applicants to be 25 years+ (drivers aged 21-25 can volunteer, however vehicle restrictions apply)
- A full UK driving licence held for at least 2 years (existing penalties are subject to further scrutiny).
- A good geographical knowledge of Bristol and South West road networks desirable.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- To deal with all passengers in a polite and courteous manner.
- To provide assistance to passengers of Bristol Dial a Ride for our evening and weekend day trip and group hire bookings.

- Draft articles and features for local, regional and national press and professional bodies.

- Expenses paid.
