Training Programme 2010-2011
BAND provides training on a variety of Play related subjects to play/childcare workers and management committee members. Our very successful programme, developed over thirty years, is led by qualified facilitators and sessions are held in easily accessible venues. We endeavour to meet participants' access needs and specific requirements.
In line with national developments SkillsActive, the Sector Skills Council for playwork, has a peer-led endorsement system through its Playwork Unit, in order to approve training courses and qualifications which adhere to the Playwork Principles and map to the National Occupational Standards for Play.
The Level 2 BAND Playwork Foundation Course has full National endorsement; this endorsement offers additional quality assurance and means that participants and employers can be sure of the value of courses.
SkillsActive also has a Code of Practice for training providers to ensure that they adhere to agreed quality standards for training delivery. BAND meets the nationally agreed criteria and is currently fully signed up.
Childcare/Travel: Childcare costs can be claimed at £4 per hour by Bristol-based groups/individuals attending BAND courses. Reasonable travel expenses also available to Bristol-based participants only.
BAND Courses
The majority of BAND's training courses are currently funded by Bristol City Council's Early Years and Childcare Service. This funding, together with other funds raised by BAND from charities and trusts, allows us to offer most courses free to Bristol based providers.
Bookings are only accepted once actual dates have been published and bookings can only be made by filling out a Booking Form (click here to download a printable form) and a £10 deposit (refundable at course attendance) or the appropriate fee to secure a place. Please note, we require separate cheques for each named individual and all fields on the form must be completed. Many courses are either free of charge or require payment of a small fee, depending on the type of BAND membership and course funding. Cheques should be made payable to "Band Ltd".
